Project Overview

Musad Engineering & Consultancy provided consultancy services for the design and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and purpose-built Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) networks along the N-7 highway corridor. The assignment focused on developing modern traffic management infrastructure, communication systems, and institutional capacity building.

Scope of Services Provided

  • Site survey and feasibility study for OFC network
  • Detailed ITS and OFC engineering design
  • Traffic Management Centre (TMC) and local monitoring center design
  • System integration with National Axle Load Control Stations (NALCS)

Role of Musad Engineering & Consultancy

Musad Engineering & Consultancy delivered consultancy services for the design and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) networks along the 260 km National Highway N-7 under a World Bank–funded project for the Roads and Highways Department (RHD). The assignment included feasibility assessment, detailed engineering design, Traffic Management Centre (TMC) development, and full system integration with National Axle Load Control Stations (NALCS). Key technologies designed comprised CCTV, Vehicle Detection Systems, Variable Message Signs (VMS), speed enforcement systems, road weather systems, and fiber optic communication networks. The scope also covered economic analysis, preparation of bid and tender documents, development of O&M manuals, and institutional capacity building for RHD officials. Through this engagement, Musad strengthened the operational and technological framework for smart highway management in Bangladesh.
